Spasticity is one of the most disabling problems in neurological rehabilitation. It is one of the most important factors involving in a motor movement and its control. It can lead to physical impairments and disabilities e.g. pain and discomfort, limited range of joint movement and joint contractures, difficulty doing activities of daily livings, walking, and nursing care. Treatment is generally aimed at improving postures and function, facilitating physiotherapy, positioning with appropriate seating, orthoses, oral medication, chemical neurolysis with phenol, alcohol or Botulinum toxin, intrathecal baclofen and surgery.

The clinical effect of Boltulinum toxin has been recognized for more than hundred years. Botulinum toxin presynaptically blocks acetylcholine release at the neuromuscular junction in a long-lasting but reversible fashion.
